What does it take to become the #1 performance fastpitch bat series of all time?

The same thing it takes to be great at softball: years of practice.

Easton’s Ghost softball bats have changed the game since the first model dropped in 2019, driving more offense, more power, and more speed across the entire sport. Thanks to groundbreaking Double Barrel technology – where the bat is made of a thin, ultra-hot outer barrel paired with an inner barrel that governs performance to meet regulations – the Ghost lineup has won fans across virtually every level of the game.

Today, you’ll see Ghosts any place that you see softball players. But how did we get here? Let’s take a look at the history of Easton Ghost softball bats:

2019 Easton Ghost Double Barrel

The debut model for the game-changing Double Barrel technology, the 2019 Easton Ghost changed the softball world forever. Featuring a sleek gray design, this bat powered UCLA to a Women’s College World Series championship in its first year. In addition to the Double Barrel tech, this bat used Easton’s XTX resin composite to eliminate break-in time and maximize durability.

2020 Easton Ghost Double Barrel & Ghost Advanced

Easton refined the Ghost Double Barrel with the 2020 model, continuing to improve on the XTX composite material and making changes to the connection joint. The new Connexion + featured Nitrocell foam in the joint between handle and barrel, giving hitters an ultra-smooth swing and drastically reducing the sting on mishits. Easton also released its first limited edition, a Stars-and-Stripes Double Barrel model.

2020 saw a new addition to the Ghost lineup, as well: the Ghost Advanced.

The Ghost Advanced took everything that made the Double Barrel hot and pushed the limit with a new composite material called Launch Comp. Hitters soon found that the Ghost Advanced offered a different feel than the original Ghost Double Barrel, giving players more options to find a bat that made them feel comfortable at the plate.

2021 Ghost Advanced Gold

The next year, the Ghost Advanced got a blinged-out makeover to celebrate the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which included softball for the first time since 2008. Featuring metallic gold accents and further improvements to the Nitrocell foam process used in the connection joint, the limited-edition Ghost Advanced Gold became the must-have bat of the year.

2022 Ghost Double Barrel & Ghost Advanced

2022 saw a significant overhaul of the tech in the Ghost lineup. New versions of the Ghost Double Barrel and Ghost Advanced dropped, featuring second-generation double barrel technology and a new composite material that made these bats hotter than anyone thought possible.

The 2022 Ghost Double Barrel replaced the XTX composite with Sonic Comp, a higher-performing material that produced a sound that quickly started turning heads all over the field. Easton also dropped the limited-edition Ghost Tie-Dye in June, giving the Double Barrel a funky new look that hitters could use to express themselves.

The Ghost Advanced version featured Sonic Comp Max, a slight tweak that created the highest-performing composite Easton had ever made. The Ghost Advanced also sported a new Power Boost Soft Knob, designed to improve comfort and leverage from a hitter’s bottom hand.

2023 Ghost Unlimited & Ghost Double Barrel

2023 featured another huge leap forward in Ghost technology: the first ever one-piece composite designed for the highest levels of the game.

The Ghost Unlimited came with a groundbreaking VRS1 internal connection joint, giving hitters a powerful, stiff one-piece feel and even bigger sweet spot without sacrificing any of the Ghost’s trademark pop. The Ghost Unlimited took the game by storm in the summer of 2023. Players across the country now had three Ghost models they could choose from to get the most out of their swing.

Easton also dropped a new 2023 Ghost Double Barrel, featuring further improvements to the Sonic Comp material and improved durability to make the bat that changed the game even better.

2023 Special Edition Ghosts

Late in 2023, Easton broke the internet with another Ghost drop: the limited-edition Ghost Advanced Fire and Ghost Advanced Midnight. Demand for these bats was insatiable, with girls scouring the internet and local retailers to get their hands on their size. To ensure that each bat was an authentic limited-edition, Easton also began individually numbering these bats, making each one unique.

Easton followed up in March with the first limited-edition Ghost Unlimited, the Ghost Graffiti. This one-piece bat took inspiration from the street art of Easton’s home base in Southern California, and it added a splash of color to bat racks across the country. The following November, players got a Ghost Unlimited counterpart to the Midnight and Fire: the Ghost Unlimited Inferno and Ghost Unlimited Pitch Black.

2024 Ghost Advanced & More

While Easton was releasing limited-edition models of the bats that had taken over the game, the team of bat engineers was also in the lab working on a new, higher-performing Ghost Advanced. The 2024 Ghost Advanced dropped in January, featuring a complete makeover and new-and-improved technology to improve pop, durability, and feel.

The 2024 Ghost Advanced kicked off the next era of dominance for Ghost bats – one that’s continuing even now. Stay tuned to see what’s next in the saga of the most dominant bats in softball history!
